Someone once pointed out to me that the figures in my paintings had a sense of looking forward into our time, much like how we as viewers where looking back into their time. I made this piece with the idea of a figure looking out, not at the viewer or our time, rather at someone who wasn't in the room. I wanted the painting to have a strong sense of waiting and wondering.
