2008
Acrylic on linen
31 x 25 inches
Long after I made two random drawings of dodo birds, The Year After Indendence and Sonnet Youth in 2007, this is the first painting to feature the iconic bird.
What drew me to the dodo image is that not only is it a stand in for human consumption and disregard for planet and fellow man; but it also represents exploration, colonialism, curiosity, and an icon for what could, or should, of been.
Exhibited:
Political Winter Redux, Molloy College Art Gallery, Rockville Centre, New York,November 6 - December 23, 2008.
